Not long ago, I heard a Christian friend say of a wayward girl, “She needs Jesus.”
I nodded, vaguely agreeing. Later, I thought to myself, “Wait–we all need Jesus!”
That certainly goes for Christ-followers as well as the unchurched and unbelievers. We need Jesus every moment, every day.
We need His patience to mold us into His image.
When we are joyful, we need to give Him praise, because gratitude must find expression.
When we are down, we need His Word to remind us that we are the Heavenly Father’s and that nothing in all of creation “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:39 NIV).
I need Jesus because without Him, I would deteriorate into the man I once was–selfish, angry and depressed. I need Jesus because with Him, I can do immeasurably more than I can ask or imagine according to His power within me (Eph 3:20).
You and I need Jesus whether we acknowledge Him or not. If you don’t know Him, you need Him. If you do know Him, you need Him. Christ is not another religious product vying to make your life better–He is the One who existed before all things and in him all things hold together (Col 1:17).
Yes–someday—all of us will discover just how much we need Jesus.
